I Received Stock Options….How do they work?

A common question I have fielded this past year particularly as companies in our local market of Jacksonville, Florida continue to expand and compete for employee talent is around the subject of awarded Stock Options. As companies expand and look for ways to attract talent, I have seen more companies utilize Non-Qualified Stock Options as a tool to attract and retain employees by providing equity ownership in the company they work for. Given the different phases and tax components specifically with Non-Qualified Stock Options I have created informational overview of how they work and options that are available to you. As Miller Wealth Management we work with individual employees to come up strategies to finance the exercising of the stock options as well as navigating individual stock concentration risk.
