About John
Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, John pursued his bachelor's degree at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, and the University of Central London in England, graduating with a degree in History and a minor in Political Science. During his college years, he gained valuable experience in the financial services industry through internships.
After graduation, John began his career at Smith Barney in Annapolis, where he built a solid foundation in both operational and sales support roles. After passing the Series 7 and 66 exams, he was promoted to a registered associate and shortly thereafter to a financial advisor.
John's passion for helping families achieve their financial goals inspired him to specialize in holistic financial planning. In 2019, he met the Educational, Professional, and Ethical standards required to earn the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, underscoring his commitment to providing comprehensive and client-focused financial advice.
After 10 years in the financial industry, John felt the time was right to establish his own practice. In 2020, he founded Miller Wealth Management, an independent, client-centric planning practice where he could evolve the practice and provide tools and solutions to meet the demands and planning challenges for families. Based in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, the firm serves clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, offering personalized financial planning and investment management services tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.
Personal Background
John is a native of Annapolis, Maryland, where he grew up enjoying water activities like sailing and surfing. Having since moved to Atlantic Beach Florida in 2017. As a resident of Jacksonville, John remains active in supporting various community organizations which include acting Trustee for the City of Atlantic Beach Police Officers’ Pension Board, Foundation For Financial Planning, Flagler College Alumni Association, Southside Business Club, Surfrider Organization, and Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.
In his spare time John enjoys surfing and remaining active in Hannah State Park, cooking for friends and family, and regular trips back to Maryland to enjoy all that the Chesapeake Bay has to offer.
